What is your understanding of the Region Advisor role and how does your experience relate to the role?

The Region Advisor provides support to the current District leaders in their pursuit of Smedley Distinguished. The Region Advisor reminds the leaders of upcoming deadlines, leads peer calls focused on current issues or deadlines, and is reasonably available to provide one on one support as needed. Having served as a District leader during the COVID pandemic, I am positioned to help leaders think outside the box, leading to success!

What is your experience with coaching individuals and/or teams?

This was, and still is, a continuous learning process. Learning team members' personalities and communication styles is the key to success. One of the biggest achievements was serving as District Director during the COVID pandemic. It was not at all the leadership year I anticipated, but I inspired our team to persevere in the face of adversity. I encouraged out of the box thinking to tackle our challenges.

Why are you interested in serving as Region Advisor?

I had great Region Advisors when I served as a District leader, and I greatly enjoyed connecting with my peers via the monthly peer calls. Those connections helped me realize that the issues I faced leading my District were not unique to our District. It was great to learn from other leaders how they were solving the same challenges. I would love to give back to the organization and provide the same support to District leaders.
