What is your understanding of the Region Advisor role and how does your experience relate to the role?
The Region Advisor serves as a mentor, coach and support for the district leaders helping them to achieve their goals. This is accomplished through regular meetings with the teams, as well as at the District Leader Training at the Annual Conference and the Mid-Year Training in January. Additionally, the RA works with the International President, submitting update reports on their region. My experience lends well to this role: since being District Director, I have taken on a number of support roles, most notably on the Club Growth team to help and retain clubs. Also, my professional experience is relatable as I am regularly tasked to provide training and equipment support to various teams of scientists - giving me experience in dealing with many different types of people.
What is your experience with coaching individuals and/or teams?
I recently coached a club to Select Distinguished status, while the club was really good at getting visitors, they were not good at converting those to members. I provided some suggestions to help them convert these visitors to members, leading to them gaining enough new members to not only cover their losses, but to also meet the membership numbers for participating the Distinguished Club Program. For my work, I was awarded the District Club Coach of the Year.
Why are you interested in serving as Region Advisor?
One of thing I have enjoyed most being in Toastmasters leadership is helping others learn how their roles impact the members. Since my time as District Director, I have been active in both Districts 4 and 57 assisting current leadership in their roles and serving as parliamentarian for D57. I feel I have learned a lot in my time in District Leadership, and I would like the opportunity to share my knowledge with others.
