What is your area of expertise? Education, translation, and interpretation
How does your professional experience relate to your role as Chief Reviewer?
I teach Japanese people English, and I also teach Japanese as a foreign language. My goal is to help my students feel more comfortable communicating with people from different backgrounds and speaking in public. In addition, I'm a Japanese-English interpreter and translator. I also work as a workshop lecturer for global leadership and a facilitator for cross-cultural exchange programs. To improve my professional skills, I always explore how different languages, cultures, and mindsets influence us, which I believe helps me enhance the quality of Toastmasters' translated materials.
What do you like most about being a translation reviewer?
Reading Toastmasters Pathways helps me to see my life from different perspectives, find solutions to problems, and overcome self-doubt. It inspires me to get out of my comfort zone and enjoy unlimited self-growth. Furthermore, it enables me to improve my ability to help my students and my proteges both learn and give public speeches and foster their global leadership and communication skills. Likewise, I believe my effort as a translation reviewer helps many people maximize their potential and live life to the fullest.
Lead Reviewers
Yukiko Nakashima
"I would be very happy to support the Chief reviewer and help improve the quality of Toastmaster materials for a great many Toastmasters in Japan. I'm sure that to work as a lead reviewer will give me a better understanding of our goals."
Nampei Shinjo
"Being a part of the Japanese Review Team has been another great aspect of my Toastmasters journey. Unlike a public speech or a presentation, I cannot see the reaction of audiences or readers to our work. So, carefully thinking about the details of each material and choosing the words and sentences from my toolbox always make me think a bit more. I believe this naturally assists me in becoming a better communicator."
