Training Basics – Getting It Right, Making it Work

Club Officer Training Building Blocks

Before club officers join you for training, give them the tools to begin the year with confidence and competence! The following items should be reviewed before attending the first Club Officer Training of the program year:

Club Success Plan (New)

The Club Success Plan is the first step towards delivering club excellence. Successful leadership is reflected in membership achievement, experience, engagement, and retention. Develop officer mindsets to make effective planning a natural, consistent habit: identifying and addressing common barriers to planning, critiquing plans, and implementing best practices.

Marketing (New)

Marketing: the initial ”conversation” with prospective members. Marketing drives prospective members to get curious, check out the scene, and decide whether the club culture is a fit. We are driven communicators, and this is our opportunity to show what we offer. In this session, club officers will examine prospective member motivation; craft corresponding marketing messages; and identify communication channels, tools, and resources that support club marketing efforts.

Prospective Member Engagement (New)

New members are exciting; they supply fresh ideas, energy, and potential while helping shape and strengthen the club. In this session, club officers will discuss approaches to converting prospective members using the Prospective Member Journey.

Member Engagement and Retention (New)

A thriving club environment begins with its members. High engagement drives member achievement, which leads to membership growth and strengthened community. In this session, club officers will develop strategies for retaining members and re-engaging past members.

Quality Club Meetings (New)

Club meetings are the premier venue for acknowledgment and achievement in the Toastmasters program, a place for members to practice skills and receive feedback and recognition. Meetings shape relationships, morale, and directly impact member retention. This session will advance a shared understanding of what a quality club meeting looks like and assist club officers in developing strategies for delivering great meetings.

Building a Healthy Team

This training teaches club officers the traits of a healthy team, how to identify behavioral styles and how to build trust.

Building on Achievement for Continued Success

This training has club officers reflect on their clubs’ challenges and opportunities for Moments of Truth and their Club Success Plan.

Creating a Quality Club

This training teaches club officers about the importance of the member experience, the Toastmasters brand, Moments of Truth and the Distinguished Club Program.

Effective Meetings (New)

In this session, club officers will look critically at meetings and learn how they can contribute, facilitate, and lead more effective meetings.

Enhancing Evaluations

Leading the Club to Success

This training teaches club officers motivation, delegation, coaching and SMART goal setting, as well as guiding them through the creation of the Club Success Plan.
