Session Description

We've all been there—sat in an audience being subjected to the pain and tedium of an excruciatingly dull and dreary slide presentation. We pity the poor presenter as they attempt to deliver a message that just isn't getting through to a sea of disengaged faces. Could that person on stage be you? Are your slides stale, soulless, and sterile?

David Henson's talk is aimed at fundamentally changing the way you think about presenting when using slides. Come along to learn how to wow your audiences and ensure your message hits home.

Top 3 Takeaways

  • Learn when to use and, just as importantly, when not to use slides.
  • Discover how to treat your slides as your partner on stage.
  • Find out how slides can save lives.

Biography

David Henson

David Henson Presentation designer, entrepreneur, speaker, author, Masterclass instructor

Trained in photography, photographic processing, and audio-visual production, David Henson set up The Regent Slide Company in 1986 and spent 13 years producing and imaging thousands of 35mm slides for many varied businesses. But it wasn't until he joined Toastmasters in 2012, and the Professional Speaking Association of UK & Ireland in 2016, that he realized that even good speakers produce bad slides. And now he's on a crusade to eradicate excruciatingly boring slide presentations and to teach people how to produce slides that wow their audiences and make their talks memorable and effective.

He is the author of Your Slides Suck! He also speaks on delivering effective slide presentations: he recently gave such a talk at the Professional Speaking Association in London. David additionally delivers Masterclasses on the topic.
