What key factors are most important as a Region Advisor to help the District achieve success:
As a Region Advisor, one of the most important factors is to be flexible and accommodative. Region Advisors need to understand and be able to accept the different leadership styles of each leader. Accordingly, share the best practices with District leaders to help overcome challenges and to serve as a supportive and encouraging mentor. Also assist them with the development of District Success Plan, conflict resolution, and goal setting.
As the Region Advisor, it is also important to educate the District leadership on foregoing areas in a timely manner and encourage them to concentrate; on developing a quality club environment which is a key factor for membership retention, to recognize that membership and club retention is equally important as club growth, to develop a District marketing plan by identifying possible strategies to increase retention, to develop a plan for building and maintaining strong club sponsor, mentor, and coach programs.
The other key factor is to be an integral part of assisting Districts to achieve distinguished recognition.
What key strengths do you bring to the District leaders?
Key strengths I bring to the District leaders are mainly the focus, experience, empowerment, dedication, and passion. I shall guide District leaders to keep constant focus on the mission of the District and get them to align all their activities towards achieving the mission. I could utilize my experience as a District Director and the art of making every decision based on the core values of Toastmasters to facilitate creative solutions to any matter. Empowering the relevant teams to own responsibilities and act to achieve set goals is a unique strength I possess and enjoy. I am dedicated to providing “servant leadership” by building strong relationships within teams by listening, being empathetic and providing support, guidance, and continuous assurance. I am also passionate and committed to go that extra distance along with District leaders by providing appreciation, recognition, and respect for realization of their potential to achieve excellence.
Why are you interested in serving as Region Advisor?
Since we are being fully trained, nicely guided, and groomed to conduct the facilitator role and shoulder Region Advisor responsibilities, I find that I have now understood my role within our organization and gained required skill set, discipline, and confidence to perform it better than ever before. Therefore, I will be able to utilize both past District leadership experience as well as Region Advisor experience to strike a great balance in facilitating and supporting incoming leaders to achieve the mission of the District.
Moreover, I found a great liking towards the Region Advisor role by now, and I am now ready to reciprocate my learning effectively to the betterment of District leaders and our organization.
Also, I am passionate in developing leaders for our movement and this I consider a unique opportunity to show the path and make a significant impact on them by assessing their needs and assisting with necessary guidance.
Already, I have been able to develop deeper awareness of the people, culture, and dynamics of Districts in the region than I began as Region Advisor, which would help to serve them better in achieving excellence.
