What is your understanding of the Region Advisor role and how does your experience relate to the role?
I am well aware of the Region Advisor role from its inception to now. I served on the very first Region Advisor Selection Committee in first year as International Director and then again in my second year on the Board of Directors. In the years of working with District Club Extension teams, I have assisted teams in adapting to the different challenges that appear each year. In my first year as International Director, I worked with Lark Doley in her first year as Region Advisor. It was a very rewarding experience. Over the years, I have been invited by other Region Advisors to be a guest speaker/trainer on their calls.
What is your experience with coaching individuals and/or teams?
I am affectionately referred to as the "Godmother" of District 56 due to my mentoring and coaching of past, current, and future leaders in our District and surrounding Districts. While at JPMorgan Chase Bank, I was a part of the Diversity Mentoring Program both as a protege, as a mentor, and as a selection committee member. While on the Board of Directors during the first year of the Region Advisor program, I worked with Lark Doley who was the first Region Advisor in Region 3.
Why are you interested in serving as Region Advisor?
I am interested in sharing best practices learned over the past 19 years in leadership with District leaders in the role of Region Advisor. When I joined Toastmasters in 2001 as a charter member of a corporate club, I was interested in exploring leadership opportunities. In the first 6 months, I assisted with new club demo meetings and club charters as well as leadership roles in my home club. From 2001 to 2020, I have been involved in club building as a team member, team leader, club extension chair, International Director, and club growth mentor.
