What lessons did you learn from previous leadership positions?
Three important lessons I have learned from previous leadership positions both in the workplace and as a volunteer leader are: 1) That human relationship management is crucial to an organization’s well-being: I realize that developing and sustaining “people relationship” is an essential key to success and that good relationships are built through honesty, attentive listening and empathy. 2) That leadership is situational and a good leader has to know how to lead in different types of situations: Situational leadership allows me to apply different leadership styles towards different types of followers so that I can direct, mentor and coach them effectively to achieve successful results. 3) That good leaders know how to embrace a powerful team. I have found that a team is powerful and productive when each team member is contributing and the responsibilities and the honors are shared among team members.
