District Recognition

Toastmasters members and groups deserve recognition for achievement. World Headquarters recognizes districts that achieve Distinguished District goals. The District Recognition Program (DRP) aims to:

  • Boost the quality of Toastmasters clubs and increase member satisfaction

  • Help members achieve personal and professional goals

  • Help areas, divisions and districts develop and support quality clubs with engaged members

  • Assist clubs and districts in achieving Distinguished Club status

The foundation of the DRP is the Distinguished Club Program, which emphasizes member satisfaction, member retention, a quality club experience, the importance of goal-setting and the value of teamwork and collaboration among leaders.

“The Distinguished Recognition Program creates important benchmarks for members’ educational achievement, growth and retention, as well as for club administration and training,” says Toastmasters Past International President Michael Notaro.

Toastmasters districts may also locally recognize members for individual achievements. Each district has the option to present awards to leaders who have helped advance the district’s success. The Triple Crown, the District Toastmaster of the Year award, the Division Governor award and the Area Governor award may be presented by districts as warranted. The District Toastmaster of the Year is typically awarded to a Toastmaster who is not a top district leader, division governor or area governor, but who makes a significant contribution to the goals and mission of the district. Each district will identify the combination of qualifications or any other parameters that count toward local recognition. View these awards on the online store at www.toastmasters.org/districtawards.

For suggestions on how district leaders should choose someone for one of these awards, refer to the Local Recognition Checklist in the left menu of this page.
