Relevant work experience and how it relates to Toastmasters and your role as a Board member:

I am a coach with LMI-China which develops leaders and organizations to maximize their full potential. I am a coach at U.lab and support the U theory, a very effective change management method. While working at Shanghai General Motors, I coordinated the Balanced Scorecard (BSC) team. I also managed learning and development for the Marketing and Distribution reformation. While working at 51job.com, a leading provider of HR services in China, I setup and implemented the training and development system. As a Board member, I will contribute my experiences in change management, strategic planning and implementation. I work well as a leader and on a team.

What experience do you have in strategic planning?

While communicating the missions and visions of different organizations (Shanghai General Motors, Family Master Coaching, How To Family Club), I managed surveys and interviews, performed SWOT analyses, designed new systems (such as competency models and leadership development plans), supported leaders to design implementation methods, performed assessments and created reports (such as the balanced scorecard).

What experience do you have in the area of finance?

In business, I have been responsible for budgeting for business units and projects. I also support leaders in overseeing performance, including finance. While initiating Family Master Coaching, and serving as President of How To Family Club (an NGO), I took full responsibility for the organization’s finances, including strategic planning, budgeting and management.

What experience do you have in developing policies?

In business, I have experience in developing policies in operations, sales, service and training. In the NGO, I led the development of the Constitution for Evolutionary Coach Association. I led the reformation of the policies in organization development, operation and member growth in How To Family Club.

What lessons did you learn from previous leadership positions?

A leader’s purpose is to help others succeed and to benefit the larger organization; to listen with empathy to understand people and to connect the world. A great leader sees challenge as opportunity. Motivate and help discover the potential within individuals and organizations. A great leader stays focused, empowers people and leads the organization towards its vision and mission.

What experience and key strengths would you bring to the Board of Directors?

I’d like to bring my experience and studies in change management, strategic planning and implementation, learning and development, and business development to the Board of Directors, together with my strengths in critical thinking, interpersonal communication, team working and social skills.

Why do you want to serve as an international officer/director?

My personal mission is to help discover the best potential in organizations and individuals so that we can have a better future. Toastmasters International is a great organization to fulfill my mission. I want to contribute my skills and experience, my time and passion to the clubs and members worldwide.

What volunteer experience do you have outside of Toastmasters?

I am a coach at CEDAR charity and a teacher of Chevrolet Red Chalk program, which supports youth education in rural areas. I am a U.lab coach and am well-experienced with the application of U theory, volunteering in both corporations and communities.

Have you worked with other Boards of Directors outside of Toastmasters? If so, describe your experience.

As a board member of the Evolutionary Coach Association in China, I have worked with board members to work out Constitution and Strategic Planning. While serving as President of How To Family Club, an NGO with over 400 members nationwide, I worked with board members to accomplish a re-organization and implement a new strategic plan.

In your opinion, what are Toastmasters International’s major objectives and how would you work to achieve them?

I think the major objectives of TI are to support club and members to achieve excellence, and increase awareness, engagement and participation. I am dedicated to increasing awareness, adaptability, application, achievement and acknowledgement of Toastmasters experience for members, leaders, clubs and potential market worldwide, as well as with the progress of PATHWAY and technology.

It’s important to me that I balance my life in family, career and Toastmasters. I have full support from my family. My career supports my efforts. I am dedicated to taking this journey and am ready and able for the 2 years I will be an International Director and Ambassador for this organization.
