With a 10 year professional background in Marketing Management, I have used my professional skills to guide the Region 11 Districts to success during my term as RA. I will further be able to utilise my marketing skills while serving a Board member, in supporting strategies to continue to build the Toastmasters brand. As founder and CEO of Voicing your Potential, (founded in 2010), a company that provides dynamic training and coaching around speaking, leadership and conflict management, I have the experience to lead an organisation and contribute to its success. As a certified World Class Speaking Coach and author, I am skilled in communicating proven ideas and strategies.

What experience do you have in strategic planning?

As Marketing Manager for international brands, one of my prime responsibilities was to devise strategies that achieved our goals. The successful management of retail companies demands precise strategic planning which is adapted according to market and economic conditions. I have devised strategies to grow market share by launching products that took advantage of gaps in the market.

What experience do you have in the area of finance?

As the co-owner of Rodenro Investments since 2004 and Rodenro Retail since 2018, I continuously monitor the financial status of the Companies. Financial planning, strategic investment and management of expenses are essential to ensure sustainable cash flow and the profitability of the business. As Trustee of the Allegro Trust, I oversee the management of funds, resulting in healthy returns for the beneficiaries.

What experience do you have in developing policies?

As co-owner of companies, I have hands-on experience in developing policies. It is essential to develop policies for long-term growth within the dictates of government and labor relation policies. Also, I revisit the policies to ensure that they comply with changing regulations, and continue to deliver the standards and ethics that are important to both the stake holders and the customers.

What lessons did you learn from previous leadership positions?

I have learned that each leader operates in the unique context of their district and country. Challenges districts face may be similar in nature, but demand a unique response. Working with many different teams, I have learned the power of truly connecting with one another, as well as with those members the leader is serving. Validation has proven to be an essential leadership tool that can unite, motivate and inspire team members.

What experience and key strengths would you bring to the Board of Directors?

I have an ability to connect with people. I am a good listener and team player. My marketing skills include the ability to innovate and to communicate a core message in an engaging manner. It is important for me to add value as I serve. My two terms as Region 11 Advisor expanded my ability to serve teams and members from diverse cultures and backgrounds.

Why do you want to serve as an international officer/director?

My Toastmasters experience has enriched my life – as a result I have positively influenced the success of others through my business. Every leadership role has allowed me to contribute to the success of the teams I served. In the process I have grown as a leader and communicator. I want to continue both giving and learning. Being elected as an International Director will allow me to continue this exciting journey.

What volunteer experience do you have outside of Toastmasters?

I have a history of volunteering to fundraise on behalf of Scouts South Africa, as well as Rustenburg School and Herschel High School where my children were educated. I also served as chair of the Old Collegiate Girls High School Chapter in Cape Town.

Have you worked with other Boards of Directors outside of Toastmasters?

I have served as a Trustee of the Allegro Trust since 2005, where I oversee the management of funds. I also serve as a Trustee for The Eden Body Corporate since 2018, where we manage funds on behalf of property owners.

In your opinion, what are Toastmasters International’s major objectives and how would you work to achieve them?

As we build our brand and grow our membership, we need to innovate. In addition, we need to keep up with the pace of innovation our customers demand. I would like to keep identifying opportunities for Toastmasters International to innovate and remain immediately relevant. This will help us attract new members, build corporate clubs and support our leaders, irrespective of which country they live in.
