Relevant work experience and how it relates to Toastmasters and your role as a Board member:

I have extensive experience in retailing from Sports Chalet. As an individual that has worked at the Store and District level in the Retail Field and Corporate level in Human Resources, I offer a distinctive outlook as a Board member. As a Realtor, I am a clear communicator and top negotiator; my strong communications skills are an asset.

What experience do you have in strategic planning?

As one of the top performing managers of Sports Chalet, I provided consultation to its district team on many levels: new store layouts, budgets, and operations. I also served in Toastmasters district leadership for 5 consecutive years; three of which I was directly involved in strategic planning in District 1. In 2013-2014, my strategic leadership contributed to the district becoming # 1 in the United States, # 1 in the Western Hemisphere and # 4 in the world.

What experience do you have in the area of finance?

I worked on audit teams for Sports Chalet for 61/2 years. As a Real Estate agent, I closely work with senior loan officers and clients in qualifying homes and commercial properties. I am very comfortable with budgets.

What experience do you have in developing policies?

I've served on several boards, Sports Chalet, YMCA and Real Estate Board. Each board position that I've held has required policy development from providing feedback on existing bylaws and operational protocol for long-standing entities.

What lessons did you learn from previous leadership positions?

My lessons learned from my previous leadership positions are rooted in John Wooten's Leadership Philosophy: Cultivate the ability to make decisions and think alone. Do not be afraid of failure, but learn from it. You discipline those under your supervision to correct, to help, to improve- not to punish. Practice self-discipline and keep emotions under control.

What experience and key strengths would you bring to the Board of Directors?

I am courageous and resilient in the face of challenge; am expressive, clear-minded and fair have the ability to inspire others and communicate the organization's mission, vision and values function effectively as a team member have experience in development and implementation of a strategic plan.

Why do you want to serve as an international officer/director?

I want to help make Toastmasters International a stronger organization by offering my professional background, and leadership experience. I am a visionary and a strategic thinker and planner. As such, I would like to be part of shaping the direction of Toastmasters International as we move towards our 100th Anniversary and beyond.

What volunteer experience do you have outside of Toastmasters?

Board of Directors, YMCA, Los Angeles Parks and Recreations, YMCA Anaheim Family, Board of Real Estate.

Have you worked with other Boards of Directors outside of Toastmasters?

Board of Directors, YMCA My experiences were in planning, designing, and implementing after-school programs Los Angeles Parks and Recreations My experience were in athletic activities and with my leadership introducing the Toastmasters Youth Leadership program to all youth in attendance YMCA Anaheim Family I manage the Sports Youth Program for multiple Elementary Board of Real Estate My experiences are in planning, budgeting, and training

In your opinion, what are Toastmasters International’s major objectives and how would you work to achieve them?

The main objective of Toastmasters International can be found in the Toastmasters International's Future Vision: To be the first-choice provider of dynamic, high-value, experiential communication and leadership skills development.

Additional information about candidate:

I am a big believer in our youth. I see great potential just waiting to be developed in them. I especially enjoy working with youths in disadvantaged communities, and building leaders. Outside of Toastmasters, I'm a major fan of the Dallas Cowboys Football team.
