District Treasurers: Have You Submitted the Year-end Audit Report?

The 2012-2013 Year-end Audit Report and supporting documents were due August 31. If you have not submitted them to World Headquarters, please do so. If you have questions, contact districtfinancialquestions@toastmasters.org.

Submit Your District Budget

District treasurers, your 2013-2014 district budget is due to World Headquarters by September 30. Download the updated annual budget template from the District Finance Corner and review Webinar 5: Managing Budgets for instructions on how to complete the template spreadsheet. Please email your budget to districtfinancialreports@toastmasters.org. If you have questions, contact districtfinancialquestions@toastmasters.org.

Distinguished District Program Requirements Due September 30

For your district to be eligible for the Distinguished District Program, please complete the Division and Area Governors Training Report and District Success Plan, and email the documents to districts@toastmasters.org by September 30.

Apply Now to Be a Region Advisor

The Region Advisor role is instrumental in helping districts grow through marketing support, coaching, mentoring and training. If you are interested in becoming a Region Advisor, or would like to learn more, visit the Region Advisor information webpage. Applications for the 2014-2015 program year are due by September 30.

Appoint Your Nominating Committee Chair

As you know, the district nominating committee is responsible for nominating candidates for district office. District governors, please appoint a nominating committee chair no later than October 1, and the remaining committee members by November 1.
 

Submit Dues Renewals Online

Club officers can now submit October renewals through Club Central. Please remember that renewals are due by October 1. Visit www.toastmasters.org/duesrenewals to learn more.

Enter Toastmasters' Video Brand Contest

Does your club need help with branding? If so, enter the Toastmasters monthly brand video contest to win a branded banner, a lectern or marketing materials for your club. For contest details, please visit Toastmasters Video Brand Contest.

Access Club Receipts in Club Central

Did you know that club officers can view their payment history and print receipts via Club Central? Simply log in and enter your username and password. Next:
  • Click the club name and number
  • Under Conduct Club Business, click Search Club Receipts

Help Your District Grow with a Club Extension Chair

Your district can assign a club extension chair to assist the district governor and lieutenant governor marketing with new club leads. A club extension chair is a great resource to help contact leads in a timely manner. To request this additional support, send an email to districts@toastmasters.org. After your request is received, lead information is forwarded to your district governor, lieutenant governor marketing and club extension chair.

Plan for VIP Visits

Is your district scheduled to receive an international officer or director visit? If so, please view the District Visits webpage. In the left-hand column, click on the type of visit you are scheduled to receive, and follow the steps to ensure your visit is a success.

Honor Your Sponsoring Organizations

Help your corporate clubs honor their sponsoring organizations with a Toastmasters corporate recognition award. For details about these awards, please read the Guide to Corporate Visits. To ensure timely delivery of your recognition items, please allow at least four weeks for processing and shipping.

Purchase or Design Conference Supplies

Consider purchasing branded supplies for your October/November conference from the Toastmasters Online Store. This flier illustrates the range of customizable products available. If you plan to design a unique item, please follow the directions on the Brand Portal and submit all products, artwork or designs to trademarks@toastmasters.org for brand and trademark approval. Allow up to two weeks for consideration.

Accommodating Members with Disabilities

As a reminder, when choosing a venue for an event, such as a district conference or speech contest, be sure the facility provides appropriate accommodations for people with disabilities that are in accordance with the laws in your country. Toastmasters International relies on strong leaders who have the ability and foresight to support and grow our organization. Get to Know the 2013-2014 Board Members

Digital Publishing

This month the organization will release its first edition of the Toastmaster digital magazine. Members around the globe will have instant access to monthly editions of the Toastmaster via an app that is downloadable on tablets and mobile devices. The digital version is enhanced with multimedia interactivity, videos, links and more. Members will still receive the print edition unless they choose to opt out. Congratulations to the World Champion of Public Speaking!

The title of 2013 World Champion of Public Speaking was awarded to Presiyan Vasilev from Chicago, Illinois, with his winning speech, "Changed by a Tire." Watch highlights from Mr. Vasilev's speech. Second- and third-place winners were, respectively, Kingi Biddle from Rotorua, New Zealand, with his speech, "The Sitting Place" and Shurooq AlBanna from Dubai, United Arab Emirates, with her speech, "Finding the Pearl." Toastmasters Convention Video Highlights

If you were unable to attend the convention last month, visit www.toastmastersondemand.com to purchase on-demand videos and DVDs of the Golden Gavel Dinner, the World Championship of Public Speaking, and the International Speech Contest Semifinals (on demand only). On-demand videos can be viewed on any device with Internet access, including your smartphone.
