District Treasurers: Quarter One Treasurer's Report Is Due

Please notify World Headquarters (WHQ) once all accounts are reconciled through September so that the District Finance staff at WHQ can make any necessary adjustments. Once you have received confirmation from the District Finance staff that the books are closed, please complete the narratives and certification spreadsheet and email it to districtfinancialreports@toastmasters.org by October 31. If you have questions, please contact districtfinancialquestions@toastmasters.org. Your 2013-2014 district budget was due September 30. If you haven't already submitted it, please do so as soon as possible.

Distinguished Club Program Changes

During the 2013 Board of Directors Meeting, the Board approved the following changes to the Distinguished Club Program:
  • Clubs that charter after September 1 are eligible to earn Goal 9 through training by a district representative.
  • The charter submission fulfills the requirement for an on-time officer list and dues payment (Goal 10).
These changes will allow newly chartered clubs the opportunity for success early on. In the past, new clubs that chartered after the first club officer training period (between June 1 and August 31) could not achieve Goal 9. The Board approved a modification that will allow newly chartered clubs to earn credit if they receive direct training from an authorized district representative in a live training session. By including the club officer list and dues payment with the charter paperwork, newly chartered clubs will now receive credit for Goal 10, where before the list had to be resubmitted. These changes were announced at the August 2013 Board Briefing, and will take place immediately.

All PROs and VPPRs: Who Will You Send a News Release To?

The news release is one of the most important tools a public relations officer (PRO) or vice president public relations (VPPR) can use to generate publicity for a district or club. The PR Corner offers sample news releases to help you gain the interest of the media to publish a story, interview a member or attend an event. Be sure to include Toastmasters' current boilerplate (a summary of the organization) at the end of every news release. The boilerplate is updated annually to reflect the latest membership statistics and should not be customized.

Consider posting the following information on your club's website or Facebook page, or including it in your club newsletter.
