  • Last Chance to Submit New Club Forms Early

    More clubs charter in June than at any other time of the year. Please review your forms and recheck your calculations. Have you included all required forms and necessary signatures?Send your forms and funds to World Headquarters as early as possible.

     

  • June 30 Deadline for Distinguished Club Program

    You have just enough time to meet those last few DCP goals! Make sure that your club's accomplishments match the DCP report online. If you find any discrepancies, take the time to investigate them so that your club receives the credit it deserves.

  • District Treasurers: Year-end Audit Due August 31

    Please submit your year-end audit and supporting documents to World Headquarters by August 31. For questions, email districtfinancialreports@toastmasters.org.
     
      

  • District Leaders: Plan Ahead for Year-end

    The last day for districts to place supply orders or access the district reserve account for the 2010-2011 program year is June 17. The district reserve account will be accessible to district leaders for the 2011-2012 program year beginning July 1.

  • Area Alignment Changes Due July 15

    In early June look for an important email with information on how to submit district alignment changes to World Headquarters for the 2011-2012 program year.

  • District Reporting - July 15 Deadline

    Please send your district incoming officer list and a direct link to your district online calendar of events to districts@toastmasters.org by July 15. Submit these reports so you can access your reserve account and place supply orders.


 

Special Tax Update for California Clubs

A new California filing requirement (199N), similar to the Federal 990-N, is in effect for all California-based clubs. Please note that in addition to the Federal EIN, an Entity ID number is required to file. On May 13, the California Franchise Tax Board mailed a letter containing your club’s Entity ID to your president. Look for an upcoming email from World Headquarters with filing instructions.

Share Membership Benefits with Prospects

Guide potential members to the public home page, where they can learn about the benefits of Toastmasters. The new "10 Questions" section offers testimonials from current members.

Delays Anticipated for Award Certificates

More members submit award applications in June than at any other time of the year. As a result, Toastmasters who apply for CC, AC, CL, AL and DTM awards at this time will likely experience delays in receiving their certificates. To reduce delays, submit awards online.

Is Your Club Hard to Find?

Help prospective members find your meeting location by updating your club information online. Be sure to include your club's most current contact information, including location on the map, a phone number and email address.

Brand Orientation for 2011-2012 Club Leadership Team

In early July, a randomly selected group of club presidents will be invited to attend a live webinar of the Toastmasters International Brand Orientation for club leaders. This webinar will be recorded and posted to the Toastmasters website for club leaders around the world to view. Learn more about the brand refresh by visiting the Rebrand FAQ.

 

District Treasurers: Prepare for Intacct by July 15

District governors, lieutenant governors and district treasurers should check their inboxes often for emails with instructions on how to prepare their district for the new district accounting system. For more information, visit the Intacct FAQs in the District Finance Corner. If you have questions about how this affects you, please email districtfinancialquestions@toastmasters.org.

Get Ready for District Leader Training!

District Leader Training will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada, August 15-16 at Bally's Las Vegas prior to the International Convention. Plan to arrive no later than Sunday, August 14, so you're ready to begin on Monday morning. Submit your incoming district leader lists now to districts@toastmasters.org and you will receive details on travel arrangements. 

New District Treasurer Training

For the first time, World Headquarters will provide training for incoming district treasurers prior to the International Convention. District treasurers are invited to join the fellow district leaders in the finance training on Tuesday afternoon, August 16. Treasurers and district governors will also have a special session on Wednesday morning, August 17, as well. Treasurers, please arrive by Tuesday morning, August 16. World Headquarters will pay for district treasurers' travel expenses to the training.

Public Relations Webinar Available

A recorded webinar on brand stewardship, the public relations program and the communications program is available for all new PROs. New LGMs are also encouraged to view this webinar. In mid-June an email reminding PROs and LGMs about the webinar will include additional tools and resources to help leaders promote their clubs and districts. 

Report Your District's Speech Contest Winners

Please remember to inform World Headquarters of the results from your district's International Speech Contest by sending the Report of District International Speech Contest Winners form. If you haven't received an email containing the form, please contact speechcontests@toastmasters.org immediately. Forms are due the Monday following your district's International Speech Contest.

Each year, on July 1, district leadership changes from one administration to the next. Plan for these changes now so you can manage the transition effectively and prepare the district for continued success.

Assign Your Club Proxy

Your club's vote is needed! Instructions regarding your club's proxy for the Annual Business Meeting were emailed to your club president and secretary on May 11. Follow the instructions carefully to ensure your club proxy is assigned correctly. If you are a district leader, encourage your club officers to assign their proxies.

Volunteer at the International Convention

In a few short months, the 2011 Toastmasters International Convention will take place in Las Vegas, Nevada. Help make this event spectacular by volunteering!

2011 Golden Gavel Award Recipient Announced

Robin Sharma will be this year's recipient of the prestigious Golden Gavel award in honor of his achievements as a leadership expert and best-selling author. The Toronto resident will receive the award during the 2011 Toastmasters International Convention. If you plan to attend, be certain to register today!

Check Your Inbox: News Release Will Arrive Mid-June

In mid-June, all VPPRs and PROs will receive an email explaining several ways they can help promote their clubs and districts. The PRO is encouraged to help VPPRs complete and distribute a fill-in-the-blanks news release announcing that clubs are sending delegates to the Convention. Look for an email with the press release attached.

The Toastmasters Brand Refresh

It's an exciting time in Toastmasters International's history: On the first day of the International Convention, August 17, Toastmasters International will officially unveil its refreshed brand. Share this important brand announcement with the members in your club and district.
