  • Check Month-end Closing Dates

    Review Toastmasters' month-end closing dates often to ensure your submittals are received and processed on time. Closing dates are not always the last calendar day of the month. The schedule also provides month-end reporting dates.


  • Reminder for California Club TreasurersRebranded Email Masthead

    California-based clubs are required to file the 199N electronically with the Franchise Tax Board by May 15 for the 2011 tax year. On January 16, club presidents and treasurers will receive an email from World Headquarters containing filing instructions and an Entity ID number. Please note: The California requirement is in addition to filing the IRS 990-N. If you have questions, email 199N@toastmasters.org.


  • U.S. Clubs: Turn in Your IRS 990-N Form

    U.S.-based clubs are required to file Form 990-N electronically with the Internal Revenue Service by May 15 for the 2011 tax year. Club presidents and treasurers will receive an email from World Headquarters on January 16 containing filing instructions and their clubs' Employer Identification Number. If you have any questions, please email 990N@toastmasters.org.

 
  • Submit Your Mid-year Audit Treasurer's Report

    Attention, district treasurers: Please submit the Mid-year Audit Treasurer's Report and supporting documentation to World Headquarters by February 15. For the report to be considered complete, update the district accounting system through December 2011 and include your signature as well as signatures of each member of the audit committee on the Monthly Narratives and Certification spreadsheets. Email your Treasurer's Report to districtfinancialreports@toastmasters.org.


  • Check Month-end Closing Dates

Talk Up ToastmastersRebranded Email Masthead

This popular club-building contest begins February 1, and requires the participation of all club members to ensure success. Make a good impression in this month's Open House Showcase contest and then invite guests back for Talk Up Toastmasters. Add five new, dual or reinstated members to your roster and receive a special "Talk up Toastmasters!" ribbon to display on your club's banner. See You at Mid-year TrainingRebranded Email Masthead

The first weekend of Mid-year Training was a huge success! District governors and lieutenant governors: If you have not yet attended Mid-year Training, you have something to look forward to. You will build on the training you received at the International Convention in Las Vegas. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to visit with old friends and make new ones.

 

Audit Committee Guidelines Now Available

District treasurers: Be sure to review the Audit Committee Guidelines at the District Finance Corner. Please provide your audit committee with supporting documentation for July-December 2011 and printed reports from the district accounting system's Audit Dashboard. Doing this will enable the committee to complete the Mid-year Audit Treasurer's Report by February 15.

  

Mid-year Audit Update

To help districts complete their Mid-year Audit Treasurer's Report, World Headquarters added two new Audit Dashboard tabs to the district accounting system. District treasurers, please print out all eight reports from the two dashboards and submit them with supporting documentation to your audit committee. If you have questions, please email districtfinancialreports@toastmasters.org.

 

District Campaigns and Elections

Attention district governors: By now your nominating committee is looking for 2012-2013 district officer candidates. Be sure to follow the correct procedures and review the elections section of the District Leader Resources webpage as well as Toastmasters International's Protocol 9.0.

 

Area Governors: Help Clubs Update Their BrandingRebranded Email Masthead

Before you visit a club, check its website for the new Toastmasters look. When you visit, see if club officers use branded agendas, name-tent cards and fliers. If they are not, point officers to the brand portal that provides free stationery templates and tools for updating club websites. For brand-related questions, email brand@toastmasters.org.

How to Honor Your Corporate Sponsors

Take the opportunity to help your corporate clubs honor their sponsoring organizations with Toastmasters sponsor awards. It's easy to do: Present an award to a sponsor representative while hosting a district visit. To ensure timely delivery of the award, please allow at least four weeks for processing and delivery. February 2012 Board Briefing

The February 2012 Toastmasters International Board of Directors Briefing will be held on Saturday, February 11, at 10 a.m. (Pacific Standard Time) at World Headquarters in Rancho Santa Margarita, California. In this open-to-the-public briefing, the Board will share the results of its February session.
