Region Advisors help districts grow by mentoring and coaching district leaders. Do you want to be considered for the role of region advisor? Or would you like to encourage someone else to apply for this volunteer position? Applications are now being accepted for the 2015-2016 program year.

It's Time for the Smedley Award Program

Help your club prepare for this year's round of the original membership-building program named in honor of Toastmasters' founder, Dr. Ralph C. Smedley. The Smedley Award program began August 1 and ends September 30.

Attend Club Officer Training by August 31

Have you attended the first round of district-sponsored training? Clubs whose officers attend training biannually achieve greater success, and that's why it's one of the Distinguished Club Program goals. For clubs to receive credit, officers must be trained between June 1 and August 31, and the lieutenant governor education and training must report the training details via District Central by September 30.

Is Your Club Easy for Guests to Find?

Help prospective members find your meeting location by ensuring your club information on the Toastmasters website is current. Log in to Club Central to update your club's contact information and include a phone number and email address.

Are You Receiving a Monthly Club Statement?

Financial statements are sent via email from World Headquarters to club presidents and treasurers for each month that a club has payment activity. To ensure you receive your statements, please verify the club officers' email addresses by following a few simple steps:
  • Click Club Central and enter your User name and Password
  • Click the club name and number
  • Under Conduct Club Business, click View/Update/Print my club membership roster

Club officers can view payment history and print receipts via Club Central. Simply log in and enter your user name and password. Next:

Who Is Your Club's Proxyholder?

All club presidents and secretaries should have received an email from World Headquarters about proxy information. Toastmasters clubs hold the most important voting power in the organization. Confirm that your club has decided who will carry its vote to the Annual Business Meeting on August 23 at the International Convention. If you have not received this email, please contact Click here for more proxy information. District governors, please follow up with club leaders and encourage them to designate their proxies if a club member will not attend the meeting.

Train Club Officers by August 31

Providing biannual club officer training is one of the most critical parts of your district's mission. Be sure clubs receive Distinguished Club Program credit by ensuring they are trained between June 1 and August 31. The lieutenant governor education and training must report the training details via District Central by September 30.

District Treasurers: The Year-End Audit Report Is Due

Please email the Year-end Audit, Certification and Narratives by August 31 to Also, mail the supporting documentation and signed reports to World Headquarters. Before completing the reports, your district accounts must be reconciled through June 2014 and closed by World Headquarters. Remember to obtain the signatures of the district governor, treasurer and each audit committee member for the Monthly Narratives and Certification spreadsheets.

Congratulations to the 2013-2014 Distinguished Districts

Several districts met their goals in the recent program year, with 50 district earning recognition. There were 18 President's Distinguished, 17 Select Distinguished and 15 Distinguished districts. We recognize and congratulate those districts on a job well done!

Are You Prepared for District Leader Training?

Training for district governors and lieutenant governors will be held August 18-19, prior to the International Convention in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. To maximize your experience, please complete the training pre-work that was emailed to you and plan to arrive no later than Sunday, August 17, so you are ready to begin on Monday morning.

District Governors: Place Your Orders at the Convention

Incoming district governors will be invited to attend an exclusive preview of the Convention Store on Tuesday evening, August 19, before it opens to all members on Wednesday. District governors are encouraged to place orders during this special preview because orders using district funds may not be placed on Wednesday. However, they may purchase orders with district funds on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Mid-Year Training Dates and Locations Confirmed

Toastmasters International provides essential training to help you succeed as a district leader. In January, seven Mid-year Training sessions will be held for all regions. Click here for dates, locations and travel information.

Area Governors, Visit Your Clubs

Each district must establish and maintain positive, supportive relationships with its clubs. Area governors play a critical role in creating this relationship through club visits, which are required twice a year. To meet one of the qualifying requirements of the Distinguished Area Program, please log on to District Central and submit an Area Governor's Club Visit Report for at least 75 percent of the clubs in your area. Plan for a Visit from an International Officer or Director

World Headquarters will notify you if an international officer or director will visit your district. To prepare for a visit, please review the District Visits webpage. Be prepared by scheduling media appearances, potential club-building opportunities and corporate recognition visits.
