Congratulations to the 2012-2013 Distinguished Districts

The first year of the new District Recognition Program was successful, with 37 districts earning Distinguished recognition. There are 12 President's Distinguished, nine Select Distinguished and 16 Distinguished districts.

Area Governors, Visit Your Clubs

Each district must establish and maintain positive, supportive relationships with its clubs. Area governors play a critical role in creating this relationship through club visits, which are required twice a year. To meet one of the qualifying requirements of the Distinguished Area Program, please submit an Area Governor's Club Visit Report (Item 1471) for at least 75 percent of the clubs in your area. Serving Clubs Through Visits: A Guide for Area Governors (Item 219) contains tips to help you prepare for an effective visit.

Plan for VIP Visits

An international officer or director may visit your district conference. World Headquarters will notify you if your conference is scheduled to receive a visit. To prepare for the dignitary's visit, and to ensure that your time together is well spent, please review the District Visits webpage and click on the appropriate visit type on the left side of the page. Also, be sure to plan for potential club visits, corporate recognition visits and media events.

Honor Your Sponsoring Organizations

Help your corporate clubs honor their sponsoring organizations with Toastmasters corporate recognition awards. For details about these awards, please read the Guide to Corporate Visits (Item 128). To ensure timely delivery of your recognition items, allow at least four weeks for processing and shipping.

Who Is Your Club's Proxyholder?

Toastmasters clubs hold the most important voting power in the organization. Make sure your club decides who will carry the club's vote to the Annual Business Meeting on August 24 at the International Convention. All club presidents and secretaries should have received an email from World Headquarters about proxy information. If you have not received an email, please contact proxyinfo@toastmasters.org. District governors should follow up with club leaders and encourage them to designate their proxies if a club member will not attend the meeting. For more information, please visit www.toastmasters.org/proxyquestions.

Cast Your Vote for Proposal A

Delegates attending the convention will have the opportunity to cast their club's vote regarding Proposal A: Amendments to the Club Constitution and the Standard Bylaws for Clubs of Toastmasters International. For more information about this important proposal, please visit www.toastmasters.org/propA.

Consider posting the following information on your club's website or Facebook page, or including it in your club newsletter.
