Prepare for District Leader Transitions

Begin planning your district's change in leadership for the next administrative year. A smooth transition is critical to achieving long-term success, and it helps districts continue to serve clubs efficiently.

How Is Your District Performing?

With only three months left in the District Recognition Program for the 2012-2013 program year, make sure your district is on target to meet its goals by monitoring the District Performance Reports on a regular basis.

Proxies Are Coming

Toastmasters clubs hold the most important voting power in the organization. In May, club presidents and secretaries will receive proxy information for the Annual Business Meeting at the International Convention via email from Word Headquarters. Make sure your club discusses and decides who will carry its vote to the meeting. District governors should follow up with club leaders and encourage them to designate their proxies.

Keep your members informed by including the following information on your club website, Facebook page or in your next club newsletter.

International Convention Registration

On April 15, registration opens for the 82nd annual Toastmasters International Convention. This much-anticipated event takes place in Cincinnati, Ohio, August 21-24, 2013, and features skill-building seminars, international speech contests and opportunities to celebrate the organization's success with members from all over the world. Visit www.toastmasters.org/convention for information regarding registration, hotel accommodations and event details.

Visas for Convention

Before traveling to the United States from another country, you may be required to obtain a U.S. visa. If you are in need of an official letter of invitation to travel to the International Convention in August, please submit a request soon to conventionregistration@toastmasters.org.

Brand Contest

Did you know that the number-one method for prospective members to learn about a club is by visiting the club's website? Branded websites exude professionalism, quality and connectedness to the global organization, all of which help to attract new members. If your club website is branded using the current logo and graphic elements, show it off by entering into this month's brand contest. Simply send a link to your club's website to brand@toastmasters.org by April 30.

1+1 Invite, Encourage, Grow

The 1+1 membership-building campaign is gaining momentum!

To date, nearly 2,000 new members have joined through the program. Each month, more and more members have encouraged their family, friends and colleagues to join a club. Remember to inspire members to participate in the 1+1 program to help their friends become strong leaders and confident communicators. For more information and free 1+1 fliers, please visit www.toastmasters.org/1plus1.
