Special Tax Update for California Clubs
Please note that a new California filing requirement (199-N), similar to the Federal 990-N, will be effective in 2011 for all California-based clubs. Be sure to learn about this important change if your club is located in California. Please note that an Entity ID or California Corporation number is required to file. Toastmasters International is in the process of obtaining these numbers from the state of California for each California-based club and will forward them to the clubs upon receipt. No filing is required by the club until they receive their Entity ID from Toastmasters International.

District Conference Speaker Selection Tips
Be sure your district conference is a success. Selecting the right speakers is one of the most important aspects of planning, and the keynote speaker is the most critical. Here are suggestions on how to find the very best speakers to motivate, inspire and educate your attendees.

Welcome New 2011-2012 Region Advisors
The 2011-2012 Region Advisors (RAs) have been appointed! Find out who will serve in your region for the next program year. RAs directly support districts and district leaders in a number of important ways. Districts continue to work with the current RAs until June 30, 2011.

Prepare for District Leader Transition
Managing the transition from one district administrative year to the next is critical to achieving long-term success. A well-planned transition helps a district preserve its knowledge base and continue to serve clubs effectively. Plan now for a smooth transition, and set your district up for a successful year.

The Final Countdown
It's the final stretch of the program year. How is your district performing? Will your district achieve Distinguished recognition or better by June 30? Review your district's performance against goals, and determine what needs to be done over the next two months to achieve them.

Policies and Procedures Update

On April 1, 2011, the new Policy and Protocol (P&P) document went into effect, replacing Toastmasters International's existing Policies and Procedures document.
In 2009, the Board of Directors recognized the need to simplify and clarify the content in our policies. The Board also described a level of administrative guidance below the level of policy that would not require committee and Board consideration and approval, thus freeing the Board's time to focus on more strategic issues. These activities are now described as "protocol." For more details, please visit www.toastmasters.org/policies.

Toastmasters around the world have been waiting for this exciting program, and they'll want to share the news with their schools and other youth organizations.
