Susan Dalati, DTM
International Director, Region VI
Term of Office: 2009-2011
As a director on the Toastmasters International Board of Directors, Susan Dalati is a “working ambassador” for the organization and represents it in a variety of capacities. She works with the Board to develop, support and modify the policies and procedures that guide the organization toward fulfilling its mission.
A resident of Manotick, Ontario, Canada, with her husband, Tony, Dalati has been a Toastmaster since 1998 and has twice attained the Distinguished Toastmaster designation – the highest level of achievement in the organization. Her many leadership positions within Toastmasters have included division governor, lt. governor marketing, lt. governor education and training, and district governor.
Dalati is a member of five Toastmasters clubs: Causeurs Sussex Speakers, Creativity +, Above & Beyond, Le Marquis, and Rockcliffe Aerodites clubs.
She first joined Toastmasters to learn how to present those tough emotional speeches, such as the eulogy at her father’s funeral. She quickly saw that the program could also provide guidance in developing strong leadership skills that she could transfer to the workplace. "I really enjoy the constant learning and invaluable feedback I gain from Toastmasters. People are so willing to share what they have learned, and they encouraged me along the way to do the same for others. I am a better person for having joined Toastmasters."
A senior manager with Canada Revenue Agency for 25 years, Dalati has been a recipient of the Ted Ferrier Award of Excellence for her significant contribution to the professional Information Management community and of the Cardillo Award for her significant achievement in the field of Records and information Management. Her interests include ice hockey, gardening, fitness and travel.
