  • 2012-2014 International Director

Toastmasters honors and recognition (including international level you have received):
2008-2009 was a rebuilding year for District 24. I compare that year to a children's book: "The Little Engine That Could." District 24 had struggled for a couple of years due to a number of factors that the team just could not control. But a strong group of committed members led the district to distinguished status, even if unofficially, before our spring conference. I was also honored with the District 24 Toastmaster of the Decade Award in 2016.

Relevant work experience and how it relates to Toastmasters and your role as a region advisor:

During my tenure in the United States Air Force, I served as a squadron on-the-job training manager, delivering courses such as "Train the Trainer" and "Supervisory Roles in Training" to both officers and enlisted members. As an employee of Omaha Public Power District, I offered many training sessions on products and services offered by our Information Technology Division, as well as managed software implementation teams. I have a strong background in project management and training, as well in information technology.

What key strengths do you bring to the district leaders?

One of the key elements that I bring to the table is the ability to listen for understanding. So often, as leaders, we need to practice our listening skills more than our speaking skills to better understand the dynamics of team building and interaction. I have also served in a coaching role for other Toastmasters and helped them recognize their skills and opportunities that improved their leadership experiences.
