Relevant work experience and how it relates to Toastmasters and your role as a region advisor:
I initially began training while serving in the US Air Force, including formal Train the Trainer courses. I trained new members on military related topics, including time management, and first-time supervisors on leadership, evaluations and counseling. I also served as an adjunct instructor for the University of Maryland while I was stationed overseas and conducted Agile (Project Manager methodology) training for my current company, YRC Freight. I also have 15+ years as a Project Manager overseeing project budgeting and execution.
What key strengths do you bring to the district leaders?
Over the last four years, I have been serving as a mentor and advisor to members in our District 22 trio. Helping with club building, training and support in my own district has led me to feel that the region advisor role is my best role to continue serving. Also, as an active Pathways Chief Ambassador since 2013, I have a strong knowledge of our current and projected education programs. I believe my knowledge of Toastmasters, skill in working with people and success in supporting leaders & solving problems will help our District Leadership Teams in Region 3 to continue to see success!
Why are you interested in serving as region advisor?
I believe in our organization. Toastmasters develops critical leadership and communication skills while fostering teamwork among diverse cultures. I feel that my knowledge, strengths and experiences would be best employed serving our organization continue to grow and serve our members worldwide. Plus, I've had numerous opportunities to interact with the leaders throughout Region 3, both at International Conventions and visiting their districts. I'm really looking forward to teaming up with our Region 3 leaders in 2017-2018! #GoTeam!
