How does your experience relate to Toastmasters and the region advisor role:
My background in training will be effective not only during the required training seasons, but by providing further tools or resources as well as one-on-one coaching for developing district leaders. My understanding of data analysis will come in handy by helping district leaders identify their key indicators and work more effectively towards their goals. Finally, my experience as a member of the district leadership team provides common ground with the possible challenges they may face in their districts and help them build action plans to take their district towards excellence.
What is your experience with coaching individuals and/or teams? What key strengths do you bring to the district leaders?
Professionally, I have been able to guide people to the right career option when they are uncertain of their major in college. I have helped define career paths and create succession plans. As a Toastmaster, I've had the opportunity to coach individuals through communication all the way to semifinals. In leadership, I've been able to work with club leaders to define strategies to become distinguished clubs with area and division directors by helping them understand key indicators and value club's uniqueness, and using both to define a strategy.
Why are you interested in serving as region advisor?
I would love to be the first region advisor from Mexico; many members believe it is impossible because of the cultural differences and the language barrier. I enjoy working with people, helping them see their current situation from another point of view and watching them emerge from any problem they may be facing. I'd like to have the opportunity to share what I have learned from my mentors and from my experience with new district leaders, especially in creating positive ties with companies to build corporate clubs.
