How does your experience relate to Toastmasters and the region advisor role:

My experience working with teams within Toastmasters (particularly in the district leadership roles) provides a strong platform of understanding from which to operate. In addition, I have found that I am able to adapt my approach when dealing with people with different behavioral styles, leadership styles, and diverse cultural backgrounds. Outside of Toastmasters, I am involved in identifying obstacles, improving processes, training, and empowering individuals to meet company goals. I believe that the skills learned in Toastmasters combine well with the skills learned in business and they provide a solid backdrop for the role of region advisor.

What is your experience with coaching individuals and/or teams? What key strengths do you bring to the district leaders?

Having taken on many team leadership roles, I have had occasion to coach individuals on the team as well as the team as a whole. The teams varied in size, starting with the role of president all the way through to district director, but the dynamics were the same. For example, team members are often at different levels in their leadership journey and thus need different levels of coaching. Some can be left alone to get on with their role (with recognition from time to time) whereas others require more coaching or a different leadership approach.

Why are you interested in serving as region advisor?

I have had many mentors who have supported and encouraged me every step of the way during my Toastmasters journey. I feel the time is right to give back to the organization. I am at a point in my life where I believe I can add value and make a difference by providing district leadership with the same support system that I have experienced. I enjoy working with people and I have a strong operational background.
