How does your experience relate to Toastmasters and the region advisor role:

I have a strong background in conflict resolution and effective communication, both in the workplace as well as in my Toastmaster roles. I originally joined Toastmasters in 2009 for the speaking development offered but have found the ability to give and receive feedback has been the greatest gift. The region advisor role would allow me to continue to serve, and directly ties back to supporting district leaders as they grow in their roles while executing their district’s mission.

What is your experience with coaching individuals and/or teams? What key strengths do you bring to the district leaders?

I have extensive experience in training large and small groups, as well as coaching individuals. As a manager, I am involved in training students daily. I have trained several hundred field members on communication skills, and I am a certified Strengths Finder 2.0 coach. I have used my coaching skills to support teams and individuals, colleagues at work, as well as individual Toastmasters who seek me out for coaching. Creating effective, meaningful training experiences that resonate well with the audience are vital to me and are integral to learning.

Why are you interested in serving as region advisor?

I learned a lot about Toastmasters as a district director, but more importantly, I learned about myself: what I value, my strengths and weaknesses, my ability to understand and be understood. As a region advisor, I would like to support people in their mission as district leaders, while at the same time supporting their personal and life growth. My favorite saying is “Toastmasters is life, and life is Toastmasters!”
