How does your experience relate to Toastmasters and the region advisor role:

A region advisor's role is to provide support and guidance to district leaders in their efforts to fulfill the district mission. In some way or another, I have mentored part or all the last four district 83 leadership teams since I was district governor. I would love the opportunity to provide that kind of support and assistance to our entire region.

What is your experience with coaching individuals and/or teams? What key strengths do you bring to the district leaders?

I have been called upon four times in the past two years to serve as an HPL guidance committee member for individuals in my club who are working towards a traditional-track DTM. While the traditional Competent Leader manual defines this task as a "mentor" role, as it is shorter term, it meets the definition of a "coach" role. In addition, I am currently serving as a club coach, and have selected Effective Coaching as my first Pathways path to focus my skills in this area and better serve the club.

Why are you interested in serving as region advisor?

Every year since I have been district governor, I have considered applying for this role, and at the International Convention in Chicago I was inspired by other leaders to finally go for it. I had a fantastic example serving as district governor with our region advisor aiding and supporting us when our district was faced with a unexpected situations that were tricky to navigate. I hope to be that same kind of calm sounding board, knowledgeable mentor, and supportive friend for the region.
