How does your experience relate to Toastmasters and the region advisor role:

I have the skills and knowledge required to succeed as a region advisor. Not only have I participated in the Toastmasters educational programs, but I coach other members and encourage them to complete the programs. As a long-time Toastmasters member, I have an exceptional understanding of the organization’s structure at all levels. I have strong oral and written communication skills, have demonstrated ability to successfully facilitate training programs, and good interpersonal skills. I am adept at team building and resolving conflicts.

What is your experience with coaching individuals and/or teams? What key strengths do you bring to the district leaders?

A member recently told me that she appreciated the fact that I encouraged her to take on roles in the club and district events. She said that because I believed in her potential she gained the confidence to continue and succeed in Toastmasters. This was just one example of the many individuals that I have mentored over the years. I continue one-on-one mentoring and coaching to help members to achieve their potential. As a member of five clubs, I still enjoy mentoring and coaching club officers and members. Frequently, district leaders will seek advice from me; I serve as an unofficial consultant to them.

Why are you interested in serving as region advisor?

I want to utilize the leadership skills that I have acquired through working in a corporate environment and being involved in Toastmasters for over 30 years. Toastmasters has been a major influence in my personal and professional life, and I would like to give back by sharing my knowledge and helping other district leaders to develop and hone their skills.
