How does your experience relate to Toastmasters and the region advisor role:
Having served as a district leader and worked with four consecutive region advisors, I have gained relevant experience from both my own experience and their mentoring. As an International Director of Zonta International, a similar organization, I was given the task to solve a major conflict in a struggling club in France and succeeded in saving the club. As a CEO, I do project planning and marketing for my company, which are skills that I used as a district leader and are necessary as a region advisor. Because I have developed sound leadership in my own company support staff, I can afford to be absent if and when necessary.
What is your experience with coaching individuals and/or teams? What key strengths do you bring to the district leaders?
Professionally, I have been coaching teams in the areas of customer satisfaction, preparing for job interviews, and team cohesion in the corporate world. I provide free coaching to first time job seekers during the AFRICSEARCH forum held every year in Lome, in exchange for a free promotional booth for Toastmasters. Through my coaching last year, four applicants succeeded in their interviews and were employed. I was a coach for the Williams Lea Toastmasters, a struggling club in New York, and helped them achieve distinguished status by motivating and coaching members.
Why are you interested in serving as region advisor?
Having successfully gone through the ranks from club to district level, it is my desire to give back to my region and the organization. My fluency in English and French, working knowledge in Italian and Spanish, and my international experience working with diverse groups have equipped me to take on the challenge as a region advisor. My passion for service and continued learning is the culminating factor!
