How does your experience relate to Toastmasters and the region advisor role:

I am an active listener who works with people and allows them to make decisions within the guidelines of Toastmasters International. I don't micro-manage or impose my ideas on others; I prefer to hear their thoughts and plans. In the past, I have been successful in assisting people to create and rebuild clubs. I have seen members achieve more than they expected and take on club officer roles due to my mentoring. I am passionate about mentoring as I myself have had excellent mentors who have assisted me.

What is your experience with coaching individuals and/or teams? What key strengths do you bring to the district leaders?

As chief coach for our district for two years, I worked directly with our club coaches and assisted them to rebuild clubs back to being Distinguished Clubs. I encouraged the coaches to empower the club officers through their guidance to do the work themselves. I encouraged them to continue to be involved with the club even after it was Distinguished. We had processes for every aspect from their appointment, including planning regular reporting with follow-up phone calls to encourage the coaches and discuss any challenges.

Why are you interested in serving as region advisor?

Firstly, I have a desire to be able to assist district leaders to be the very best leaders they can be. I love to see people achieve their goals by stretching themselves. Secondly, I will grow as a result of applying myself to the preparation and organization required to be an effective region advisor.
